The Town of Naples is issuing a warning to its residents and businesses about a fraudulent email scam that has come to our attention
.

The scam emails falsely claim to be from the Town of Naples. However, these emails are sent from an email address which is not a legitimate Town of Naples email address.

The fraudulent emails may include an attachment with a fake invoice requesting a wire transfer payment. The scam artists have falsely used the Town's letterhead and other information that makes the invoice look real. The various departments in the Town of Naples would never request payment via a wire transfer. These fraudulent emails are designed to appear official, but they have no connection to the Town of Naples. Other Maine municipalities have been recently targeted by similar fraudulent emails. If you have questions about an email you have received, feel free to contact the Town of Naples at 207-693-6364.

Do not respond to the email or provide any payment. If you have sent money or believe you have been scammed, please contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department.
