Summer Camp Director
Start: Part-Time Planning as Soon as Hired. Full-Time June 17-August 23, 2024
Pay: Range of $22-$26 per hour based on experience.

Naples Kidventure Summer Camp is a dynamic and inclusive summer camp dedicated to providing unforgettable experiences for children of all ages. Located in Naples across from Kents Landing, our camp offers a wide range of activities designed to foster personal growth, teamwork, and lifelong memories. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Summer Camp Director to lead our team in creating an enriching and safe environment for campers. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a genuine love for working with children. The position is a seasonal, full-time position. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Recreation & Community Activities Director.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelors degree in education, recreation, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a leadership role at a summer camp or similar setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse groups of people.
  • The ability to train and lead a team of camp counselors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a curriculum, schedules, and resources efficiently.

 


Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee all aspects of camp operations, including staff management, program development, and camper supervision.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate camp staff to ensure a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate programming that aligns with camp values and objectives.
  • Maintain open communication with campers, staff, parents, and the Recreation Director to address concerns and provide updates as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing regulations to uphold the highest standards of care.

Summer Camp Counselor (Full Time/Seasonal) - Recreation & Community Activities Department
Start: June, 2024
Pay: Based on Experience

Position Overview: The camp counselor position is a full-time, seasonal job, working with children ages 5 - 12 in our summer day camp program. Our camp operates Monday-Friday in Naples, Maine.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Camp Director.

Qualifications

 

  • 16 years old or older.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Ability to be active and attentive with campers ages 5-12.
  • Able to swim.
  • Able to take direction.
  • Positive attitude.

Responsibilities

 

  • Implement activities for children in a day camp setting, where safety and the responsibility for children are a priority.
  • Assist Directors in providing a safe environment for campers at camp, at the beach, and on field trips
  • Clean and organize.
  • Communicate with parents, staff, and Directors.

CPR/ First Aid certification is provided. Lifeguard certification may be provided for some interested candidates.

Maintenance Worker
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance and preventative work and operates a variety of light equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of town facilities and roads. May be assigned specialized responsibilities as part of job assignments.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

  • Operates motor broom sweepers, lawn mowers, weed whackers, and other powered equipment.
  • Participates in snow removal operations at all levels, operating snow blowers and pickups with plows in the clearing or loading of snow.
  • May operate small, rented equipment on road or facility repairs.
  • Performs small road improvement projects such as patching pavement, replacing culverts, roadside ditching, etc.
  • Makes carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs to buildings, grounds, and equipment within certification restrictions.
  • Installs street signs as required.
  • Paints interior and exterior of buildings, rooms, walls, ceilings, and other surfaces; tapes, sands, and prepares surfaces for painting.
  • Removes trash and recycling from municipal facilities to the regional transfer station.
  • Performs landscaping and other outdoor grounds maintenance as required.
  • Changes and installs lights in buildings or on grounds.
  • Maintains and repairs stationary and non-stationary docks.
  • Uses power tools and other hand tools in the course of work; operates trucks, tractors, trailers, boats or other special equipment in connection with special work assignments.
  • May perform tune-ups, lubrication, and oil changes, welds equipment and performs other automotive service and repair work when necessary.
  • Installs, maintains and repairs electrical equipment.
  • May assist the recreational department with repairs, installations, and general maintenance of recreational facilities.
  • Performs other related work as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of the functions and operating methods of a wide variety of basic construction equipment used on various jobs such as excavating, loading, working to grade, rolling and related work and ability to operate this equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Knowledge of hazards and of applicable safety rules and regulations for operating this equipment.
  • Ability to make minor repairs to equipment such as greasing specialized equipment, adjustment in field to drive chains and belts and replace shear pins.
  • Good visual acuity for driving, and the physical strength, agility and stamina necessary to withstand exposure to adverse climatic conditions.
  • Ability to make out clear and accurate written reports as required for work records, operating records and accident reports.
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods, materials and skills used in a variety of construction and maintenance activities.
  • Ability to lead and train other employees as required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
Experience in operating basic construction equipment; high school graduation; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must hold a valid Maine Class A, or B Driver’s license.
  • Will be required to work occasional holidays, weekends, and nights.
  • Must have and maintain a good driving record.

BONA FIDE OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Physical Activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, manual dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, repetitive motions, and twisting.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK:

Physical work requires exertion of more than 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Must have
hearing and eyesight that permits the driving of motor vehicles.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: While the above is reflective of the expectations of the Town, it is dynamic, and changes may be made by the Town to improve the effectiveness of the position. It is expected that skills and abilities will improve and that the employee will adapt to changes that occur as
future needs of the community change.

COMPENSATION: ($21.50 - $23.00/hr) Depends on qualifications and Experience

Per-diem Firefighters/EMTs, AEMTs, or Paramedics

The Town of Naples is currently seeking per-diem Firefighters/EMTs, AEMTs, or Paramedics. Naples is a combination department with excellent pay and an outstanding team. Ideal candidates are highly motivated, self-starters. Members of Naples Fire Rescue protect life and property as their first priority. Additionally, members participate in daily training, care of equipment, and general house chores, while ensuring each apparatus is ready to respond.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid appropriate State of Maine driver’s license
  • Current EMT-B, EMT-A or EMT-P licensure in good standing
  • Firefighter 1
  • CPR certification
  • ACLS, PALS or PEEP, PHTLS or ITLS
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course or equivalent certification
  • Physical strength and agility to allow for performing firefighting, EMS, and rescue responsibilities
